Site Organization With Subdomains
Hi Again. Thanks for coming back!Promotion Tip: Site Organization With Subdomains
[I've just brought this article over from my other blog - lynda-hill.com - where I am changing the theme etc. It was first posted in November 2008.]
I was moved to pop on here today when I found this amazing site – http://www.netmechanic.com
Some of the things I have been doing since I last wrote in here included reading as much as possible about SEO – Site Engine Optimisation. I’ve not only been reading Brad Callens SEO Mindset, but viewing online videos too. All very interesting and extremely useful, if somewhat technical.
In the middle of last night I decided I would think about setting up subdomains on my main website – (still a work in progress, BTW) – but I just wanted to double-check that I understood what they were all about and made sure it wanted to go ahead.
For example, instead of having lynda-hill.com as my Blog URL, it could be blog.lynda-hill.com. I can have as many subdomains in front of my main domain name as I want.
Best thing to do in these cases is pop onto Google. And that’s where I found NetMechanic.com.
From reading about subdomains I then went on to all the other links that appeared in the first article. Although they have been written a few years ago, the information ties in with all the other stuff I’ve been going through.
Main tip – when adding an image, give it a descriptive ALT title too, in the form of a short sentence using one or two keywords. The Search Engines like it, but perhaps more importantly, they can be read out for unisighted people. Also, … well pop over to the NetMechanic site for yourself using the link at the top.
It’s a shame it’s doesn;t appear to be active; the last entries seem to be 2005 in the sections I was using – but perhaps they’ve relocated to another URL (and their latest copyright is 2007).
And what about subdomains. Well, yes, I think they may be very useful. Although every subdomain can be treated as a whole site in its own right, ie they can have a similar style to other pages on the domain, they must not have exactly the same home page. The logo and style can be similar, but the content itself must be completely different other wise the Search Engines will block them. On the plus side though, they can be added as entities in their own right, so if they all interlink that would be a brilliant way to implement everything I’ve been reading about!
That’s all for today.

PS Here are the links resulting from my recent cyber-education trip:
SEOelite – for everything you need to know about Search Engine Optimisation
SEO Mindset – I don’t know if the offer is still available, but I paid a very small shipping charge and got a 130 page manual in the post and one month free membership to SEOelite.
Warrior Forum – from here I was able to get to see Chad Kimbal’s Domain Tweak system for just over £3.25 and that IS clever! (Look in special offers.)

Four must-have traffic exchange tools
Four must-have traffic exchange tools
If you are advertising in traffic exchanges, you MUST use —
1. SPLASH /SQUEEZE PAGES - here are my favourite page design programs
- Site Rubix – excellent WYSIWYG designing and straightforward uploading to your site by in-built FTP. There’s so much more to this than the page-building though, so it may be overkill for you right now. But it is definitely top of my list and something I can’t do without. Requires a monthly membership fee as it is part of Wealthy Affiliate University – CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.
- Instant Squeeze Page Generator - “takes the hard work of designing a professional squeeze page or Lead Capture page and makes it so easy a baby could do it. If you can point and click, you will be creating squeeze pages in minutes”. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.
- Instant MLM Squeeze Pages – not just for MLM programs, this one’s a bit different as the pages are 90% ready for you. You can add your main program as a link. Interesting concept and fantastic videos telling you all you need to know about desiging squeeze pages if you want to do your own. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.
- Lots of the traffic exchanges have splash page builders available to members – really easy to use and you get to promote that TE as well.
- Online free for ad hoc use – can be found through online search. You will want to host these yourself though.
2. Rotators for your splash or squeeze pages - these also have tools to help you track your ad campaigns, so they are really essential. Here are the ones I use:
3. Banners – here are my favourite banner design programs:
4. Rotators for your banners – here are the ones I use:
Why the splash / squeeze pages? – see my articles here and here
…and make sure you have read my Squidoo lens – here
Why use rotators? – see here (you will need to scroll down the page a bit)
Why use banners? – Why not? You will be given credits (impressions) for them, so you may as well use them. In some traffic exchanges they are free too.
Why have rotators for banners? – see here (same link as above)
You can find the top traffic exchanges to use in AFFILIATE FUNNEL and TRAFFICHOOPLA. Both have free basic memberships and use a variety of methods to rank the hit exchanges. Well worth a look.
If you are looking for programs to promote you will find some of what I am doing here in my blog, but I must admit that my favourites are MY INSTANT BIZ and TRAFFIC EXCHANGE PROFITS/ONLINE BUSINESS ALLIANCE. Great systems and top-class support in these two.
All of the above recommendations have basic FREE membership options and some are just there for you to use as and when without signing up. Or you may decide you would like to upgrade and receive even more benefits; I have upgraded in some, but not all of them.
To your success

Now, what about that sales letter?!!
Review of SalesLetterABC.
There seem to be hundreds of ebooks and courses on copywriting available these days, which is hardly surprising considering that it’s one of the most important elements of a website.
Without good copy it wouldn’t matter how many visitors a site had – it needs to sell to those visitors.
Yet it’s also one of the most costly considerations for anyone setting up a site, and one of the most neglected… usually due to either the overall high cost involved in hiring a professional copywriter, or to the confusion that reigns supreme when one attempts to learn the art of writing good copy from the many ebooks and courses one can buy.So does SalesLetter ABC add to the confusion – or is it a product worth consideration?
Here’s what I think.
At just 33 pages – it’s probably one of the shorter products in the field of teaching copywriting. So at first I wondered if it did actually include everything you need to know to create a good sales letter. It includes a template which can be used as a guide to copy and paste your own content. This does present an advantage for many who don’t really know where to start, as it’s a simple task to replace the headline with your own and the next section with your own etc. right down to the P.S.’s at the end.
In the report each section of the 10 Steps is detailed with a guide on what should be there.
One of the things I do like about the descriptions is the fact that in each does explain in simple English exactly what should be written and why, yet without the usual 10 pages of detailed analysis that many seem to incorporate. If anything one of the complaints I’ve always had with most copy courses – is that they are written by copywriters for copywriters. SalesLetterABC does seem to be written FOR the average marketer. It teaches the basics but without the required degree in psychology that many assume you have!
In the section “Further Tips & Recommendations” I found some common sense, and to a degree, obvious tips, but also some very useful comments that help a great deal for anyone who would otherwise struggle to get started and achieve any kind of structured input.
The first 10 sections of the ebook are also extremely useful for anyone starting out, and they cover some of the basics that the professionals take for granted – yet mean little if anything to the novice. What I liked about them was the simplicity of explanations.
No in-depth analysis – just the answers to the questions like which fonts to use, what colours work best, etc.
That to me is the strength of the whole product… the simplicity.
It tells you what you need to know, how to do the job, and what things to incorporate to get the best results. But without all the page after page of confusing statistics! To cram the 10 sections of the template plus another 12 sections of tips, advice and much needed information, into just 33 pages, shows that it’s all meat and no fluff!
I believe anyone wanting to get started writing their own sales letters would do well to invest in this product and learn from it.
I’m sure they would accomplish the task of completing a sales letter of their own with far more ease than if they had purchased many other products of considerably higher cost.So it’s a two thumbs up for SalesLetterABC.

I highly recommend it.
until later..
